Dental Watch Mission Statement

Dental Watch is a project of Quackwatch, an international network of people who are concerned about health-related frauds, myths, fads, fallacies, and misconduct. Its primary focus is on quackery-related information that is difficult or impossible to get elsewhere. Launched in June 2002, Dental Watch is intended to help people make rational choices about dental care. Our activities include:

Providing basic information
Debunking misleading claims, particularly those about amalgam and fluoridation
Identifying reliable information sources
Reporting improper actions to regulatory agencies
Helping people seek legal redress when victimized

Dental Watch collects no electronic or personal data from visitors to our site. All e-mail messages are kept confidential, with one exception: Comments about our site may be posted without revealing the identity of the sender.

Sources of Income

The total cost of operating all of our sites and research activities runs between $7,000 and $10,000 per year. Quackwatch has never had any salaried employees. It operates with minimal expense, funded mainly by small individual donations, commissions from sales on other sites to which we refer, and profits from the sale of publications. If its income falls below what is needed for the research, the rest comes out of Dr. Barrett's pocket. Except for the sales commissions, neither Quackwatch nor Dr. Barrett have any financial tie to any commercial or industrial organization.

Amazon.com enables visitors who are registered at its site to donate $10, $25, $50, or $100 by clicking the appropriate box below.
PayPal enables donations of any amount and is more efficient for us, so we prefer that you use their service. If you have a PayPal account, you can trasfer money to us. If you don't have an account, you can pay with a credit card.
